This session will be a review of 70E requirements and changes with 2024 version.

Despite some common misconceptions, RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and HOP (Human & Organizational Performance) share a common goal of avoiding blame and respecting people by exposing the conditions that set them up for failure. Aligning HOP and RCA assures that specific improvement actions are uncovered without losing sight of the procedural, equipment/system, operational and cultural elements that need to be addressed to achieve safer operations.  

This presentation will provide a practical approach that combines HOP and RCA to identify and eliminate precursor causes producing sustainable improvement across the operation.

This presentation provides guidance on how to become a NFPA Technical Committee member, member expectations, and why we need technical committee members.

This presentation will review the impact of the Global Harmonization System of Classification and Labeling of Hazardous Chemicals (GHS) upon Safety Data Sheets (SDS) Safety Data Sheets must follow a specific format to comply with 29CFR 1910.1200 Hazard Communication and must incorporate the requirements found in GHS.  

Attendees will acquire basic understanding of SDS – format, important features, and key works and symbols.  An introduction of GHS phrases and symbols will be part of the presentation.

The greatest and most common hazard resulting from static electricity arises because the small sparks that are simply annoying in our everyday world can easily ignite many flammable materials that are found in industry. Even sparks that are far too small to be felt by people can readily ignite many of the most common industrial substances, which can lead to fires and explosions causing injury to people, destruction of plant, and loss of business.

This presentation will overview the industrial hazards presented by static discharge, and provide a practical to evaluate these risks, including background principles related to Charge Generation, Charge Accumulation, Discharge Energy Level, and Sensitivity of the Atmosphere to Ignition. The risk evaluation processes contained in NFPA 77 (2024), considered a globally applicable RAGAGEP on Electrostatics, will be overviewed.

This session will include design and system considerations for AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) system transitions to SFFF (Synthetic Flourine Free Foam) foam systems.  It will help attendees recognize required changes to fire protection due to legislation.
