The Board of Certified Safety Professionals will allow one credit towards maintenance of certification for a two-day attendance at the Michigan Safety Conference. A half credit can be earned by attending one day. C.S.P.’s will be responsible for documenting their own attendance.
Certified Industrial Hygienists can earn .5 IH Certification Maintenance points per .5 day. Earn 2.0 IH Certification Maintenance points total for attending two full days of conference programs. If you attend the Ethics session as part of the two full days you could claim .33 Ethics points and 1.67 IH points. A CM# number will not be issued as it will no longer be needed for the CIH’s CM worksheet.
Continuing Education Units — General
Several divisions will offer C.E.U.’s through Grand Valley State University for attendance at their programs. Attendees will be required to complete a request form available from divisional representatives at the conference.
The International Board for Certification of Safety Managers will recognize 1 contact hour of continuing education for each one-hour break-out session for the CHSP designation.
Individuals certified by the National Registry of Environmental Professional are allowed to apply CEU’s obtained through documented attendance at the Michigan Safety Conference to NREP’s continuing education requirements.
BCRSP has awarded attendance at the Michigan Safety Conference 1.0 CMPs. Call the headquarters office to obtain the CMP approval code. MCPs are accrued by Canadian Registered Safety Professionals who are certified by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals.
Diplomate Environmental Engineers
The American Academy of Environmental Engineers will recognize participation in the Michigan Safety Conference as a legitimate continuing education activity for its Diplomates (certified engineers).
Professional Emergency Manager (PEM)
The Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division, will accept a certificate of attendance from the Michigan Safety Conference for the, “Attend a Relevant Conference” Annual Continuing EM Participation credit, for the Professional Emergency Manager designation.
The State of Michigan, Department of Environmental Quality will recognize .1 CEC per class attended (up to 1.0 total over 2 days). To obtain certificate, pick up a CEU tracking form from the classroom or the headquarters office when you arrive at the conference. Have the room monitor sign the appropriate signature line of each class you attend. Write “Wastewater CEU” across the front of the form and turn it in to the headquarters office at the conference before you leave.
